The Methodology

Evidence-Based Learning That Delivers

A structured, repeatable process that closes gaps, builds confidence, and produces consistent results.

1
Pre-Assessment Precision
Students are placed only after a diagnostic assessment establishes their exact starting point. No assumptions, no wasted lessons.
2
Small Class Sizes
A maximum of 6 students per class means every question is answered and every struggle is noticed.
3
Monthly Formal Testing
Students sit a written test every month. Parents receive a detailed report of the progress test within minutes.
4
Data-Driven Teaching
Monthly test results and digital homework data give teachers a clear picture of where each student is struggling, so sessions are tailored to what the class actually needs, not just what is next on the syllabus.
5
Free Doubt Sessions
Targeted follow-up sessions aligned with each monthly report, a dedicated space to clear anything students are unsure about.

Common Questions

Everything You Need to Know

Answers to the questions parents ask most before enrolling their child.

How much does tuition cost at Sterling Study?+
Group classes start from as little as £9 per hour and 1-to-1 tuition starts from £20 per hour. There are no hidden fees, no registration costs, and no contracts - you can start or stop at any time.
Is there a contract or minimum commitment?+
No. Sterling Study operates with no contracts and no minimum term. You enrol when you are ready and can leave at any time, with no penalties.
How does the free assessment work?+
Every new student receives a free diagnostic assessment before joining. This identifies exactly where your child is performing, where the gaps are, and which programme and group level is the right fit. There is no obligation to enrol.
Are your tutors qualified?+
Sterling Study is co-founded and led by two PhD scientists - Dr Parth Patel (PhD UCL, MSc Imperial, Francis Crick Institute) and Dr Igors Pupko (PhD Genetics, University of Surrey, MSc Imperial). All teaching content is planned and overseen by them directly. Our tutors are experienced educators aligned to the UK National Curriculum.
What subjects and year groups do you cover?+
We cover Maths, English and Science from primary through to A-Level - including 11+ Grammar School preparation (Years 4-6), KS1 and KS2 SATs, KS3, GCSE and A-Level. We also offer a Coding programme.
How quickly will my child see results?+
3 in 4 students improve by 2 or more grades within a year. 90% of our GCSE students achieve Grade 6 or above in Maths, English and Science. Most parents notice a difference in confidence and understanding within the first few weeks.
What is the difference between group and 1-to-1 tuition?+
Group classes (4-6 students) start from as little as £9 per hour and are ideal for students who benefit from structured, collaborative learning at a lower cost. 1-to-1 sessions start from £20 per hour and are fully personalised to your child's exact needs and pace. Both options are available across all programmes.
Is online tuition as effective as in-person?+
Our online sessions are live, interactive and tutor-led - not pre-recorded videos. Students engage in real time, ask questions, and receive instant feedback. Our 4.9/5 Google rating and 90% GCSE Grade 6+ rate reflect results achieved entirely through our online model.
Do you follow the UK National Curriculum?+
Yes. All programmes are aligned to UK exam boards including AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Our 11+ preparation also covers GL Assessment format, which is used by grammar schools across London, Essex and Hertfordshire.
How do I get started?+
Book a free assessment through our website or call us on 020 8087 2806. We are available Monday to Saturday, 9am to 7pm. After the assessment we will recommend the right programme and group for your child - no pressure, no obligation.
