How It Works: Your Child's Journey

From first contact to measurable results, here is exactly what happens when your child joins Sterling Study.

1

Free Assessment

Your child takes a diagnostic assessment covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics. We generate a detailed PDF report showing strengths, weaknesses and working level. Completely free, no obligation.

2

Personalised Placement

Based on assessment data, we match your child with the right tutor and ability-matched group. No guesswork. Real data drives the placement.

3

Expert-Led Live Classes

Interactive online sessions led by specialist science tutors. Structured around the exam syllabus with worked examples, exam-style practice and real-time Q&A.

4

Monthly Progress Testing & Parent Communication

Each month, your child completes a progress test via our portal. We share detailed results with you via WhatsApp and through our Learning Portal & Parent App. We discuss progress with parents regularly and adjust group placement based on the data.

5

Targeted Intervention

If scores dip, we provide free one-to-one sessions to close gaps immediately at no extra cost. We catch problems early.

"I was aiming for 7s but ended up with grade 9s across all my GCSEs including Maths, English and all three Sciences. What made the difference was how structured the sessions were. Every class felt purposeful, not just going through the motions."

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the questions parents ask most.

How much does GCSE Science tuition cost?+
Pricing is flexible and depends on the number of sessions per week and subjects covered. Contact us for a personalised quote. Your initial assessment and trial class are completely free.
Do I need to sign a contract?+
No. We do not require fixed-term contracts. Continue for as long as it benefits your child, and stop at any time.
How are tutoring groups structured?+
Students are placed into small groups based on assessment results. Monthly progress tests may trigger a group adjustment to match their evolving ability level.
What qualifications do your science tutors have?+
Subject specialists with strong academic backgrounds, overseen by our founding team of PhD-qualified scientists from UCL. Our Director holds an MPharmacy degree.
What if my child is struggling?+
We monitor progress monthly. Students scoring below expectations receive free 1-to-1 sessions to target specific gaps at no extra cost.
Can my child join mid-year?+
Absolutely. We assess individually and place accordingly, so your child can start at any point during the academic year.
What is the difference between Combined Science and Triple Science?+
Combined Science covers all three disciplines and results in 2 GCSEs. Triple Science covers each subject in greater depth and results in 3 separate GCSEs. Triple is recommended for students planning science A-Levels. We support both pathways.
Will the topics taught align with what my child is learning in school?+
Absolutely. All of our teaching is rooted in the national curriculum. One of the great advantages of tuition alongside school is that your child gets to experience each topic more than once. This double exposure is one of the most effective ways to build lasting knowledge.
What is the difference between the exam boards?+
The core scientific content is largely the same across AQA, Edexcel and OCR. The main differences lie in how questions are structured. We teach concepts thoroughly and have students practise exam-style questions drawn from across all three boards.
How do I track my child's progress?+
Through the Sterling mobile app (iOS & Android) and our learning portal. We also send monthly progress reports directly to you via WhatsApp.
Do you offer 1-to-1 sessions?+
Yes, we do offer personalised 1-to-1 sessions at a customised rate. However, our group classes are designed to be highly effective and offer excellent value. Contact us to discuss which option might suit your child best.
