Learning That Actually
Fits Your Child

Every student joins us with a different starting point, a different pace, and different gaps. Our online teaching adapts around them, not the other way around. Small groups. Interactive lessons. Ongoing feedback. Every step driven by data from PhD scientists who built this programme themselves.

How It Works

From First Assessment to Confident Student

No two students are the same, so we start by actually getting to know yours before a single lesson plan is written. Everything takes place online so your child can join from home.

1
Free Assessment

Free Baseline Assessment Online

Before your child's first lesson, they sit a free baseline assessment designed by our PhD scientists. It tests the exact topics they are working on at school and gives us a precise picture of where they are strong and where the gaps are. Parents receive the full results via WhatsApp.

Free Trial Class

Free Online Trial Class with No Obligation

Your child's first class is free. The tutor will already have seen the assessment results, so the session is relevant from the start. Parents see the teaching style and group dynamic first hand before committing to anything.

Right Group Assigned

Your Child Is Placed in the Right Online Group

Using the assessment results, we assign your child to the group that best matches their current level. Groups are small so every student in the room is working at a similar stage. If it ever makes sense to move them, we do on their timeline, not a fixed schedule.

Ongoing and Adapting

Group Focus Adjusts Based on Results

Each month's progress test results inform what the group covers next. Weak areas get more session time. Topics the group has mastered are moved on from. The direction is always driven by the data, not a fixed schedule.

Adaptive Teaching

Monthly Test Results Shape What the Group Covers Next

When the monthly results come in, the tutor does not just note them and move on. Every score informs what the group spends time on in the following online sessions, with more time on weaker areas and less on what the group has already mastered.

Topics advance when the group is ready

Strong scores across the group mean the tutor moves forward. No time wasted on content already understood.

🔍
Weak areas get more session time

A low group score on a topic means it stays on the agenda and gets covered in greater depth before moving on.

🧭
Free 1 to 1 when a student truly needs it

If a student has high attendance but is scoring poorly across all areas, we step in with a free 1 to 1 online session to address the root of the problem.

The Online Classroom

Learning Goes Both Ways

Sitting silently while a tutor talks does not build understanding. Our online sessions are designed so students think out loud, make mistakes safely, and develop the confidence to ask the awkward question.

🙋

Students Speak First

Before the tutor explains a concept, students are asked what they already know or think. This reveals real understanding and means the tutor teaches from where the student actually is.

🧩

Problems Solved Together

Students work through problems in the online session with the tutor alongside, not watching from the front. Misconceptions are caught in real time and corrected before they become habits.

Questions Are the Point

Students are actively encouraged to ask the questions they would not dare raise in school. A confident student who asks questions learns faster than one who stays quiet.

👥

Small Online Groups by Design

Our online classes are deliberately small so every student is seen. There are no back rows to hide in, and the tutor can address each student individually within every session.

🔄

Regular Check Ins Mid Session

The tutor checks for understanding multiple times per session, not just at the end. If a student has lost the thread, the session adjusts immediately rather than pressing on.

🎯

Each Session Has a Clear Goal

Each class has defined learning objectives so students always know what they are working towards and why it matters for their progress.

Question 3 of 5Solve for x: 3x squared minus 12x plus 9 equals 0. Show all working.
Liam's Answer3(x squared minus 4x plus 3) = 0 then (x minus 3)(x minus 1) = 0 then x = 3 or x = 1. Correct method but no check step shown.
Tutor FeedbackExcellent factorisation. The method is exactly right. One thing to add in an exam: always substitute your values back in to verify. Examiners reward this step and it costs 30 seconds. We will practise this in Tuesday's online session.

Homework Feedback

Feedback That Actually Teaches, Not Just Marks

Every piece of homework is reviewed question by question, with written tutor feedback explaining what went right, what to fix, and why it matters for the exam. Delivered via the app and reinforced in the next online session.

📱
Detailed feedback on the app

Students and parents see marks and tutor comments broken down by question, not just a score at the bottom.

🔁
Carried into the next online session

Common mistakes from homework are addressed at the start of the following class.

📈
Homework trends tracked over time

Recurring mistakes are flagged in the monthly report so parents see patterns, not just one off errors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What parents ask us before getting started.

How small is a small group?+
Our online groups are capped at a maximum of six students and most run with four to five. At this size the tutor can address every student individually within a single session, check understanding in real time, and catch misconceptions the moment they occur.
What happens in the free assessment?+
The free baseline assessment is a structured online test designed around your child's current school year and curriculum. It takes between 45 minutes and an hour, completed online at a time that suits your child. The tutor analyses the results and sends parents a full breakdown via WhatsApp before the first class is even booked.
What if my child is significantly behind the rest of the group?+
We use the baseline assessment specifically to ensure every student is placed with peers at a similar level. If a student falls behind over time, the monthly progress test flags it before it becomes a problem. We then provide free targeted 1 to 1 online support to close the gap.
Does my child need to be in London to join?+
Not at all. Sterling Study is fully online and we have active students from all across the UK, from London and Birmingham to rural areas in Scotland, Wales, and the South West. All you need is a stable internet connection.
How does the class plan change from month to month?+
After every monthly progress test, the tutor reviews the group's results and uses them to shape the following month's online sessions. Topics where the group scored low get more time and deeper coverage. Topics where the group performed strongly are moved on from. The sessions always reflect where students actually are, not a fixed syllabus timetable.
